These are fantastic. Love seeing the torn pieces used to bring everything together. What type of paper are you using for the watercolors? I've always found it frustrating if you don't use the expensive paper that can really absorb properly. You never know exactly how it will turn out which is part of the allure of watercolors, I guess.
Love the new blog. I still have yet to figure out how to subscribe. I know, pathetic. I like to consider myself somewhat tech savvy too. It will give me something to do over the holidays.
I've pretty much just been using watercolors on the sketches in my non watercolor paper sketchbook. The torn pieces of paper you see are post it notes. I cheated on the above sketches and painted them in Photoshop. The hippos a couple posts back were painted on the sketchbook. One thing I've learned is that the post it's don't take the watercoler very well. It causes the pen lines to fade and the color doesn't flow as well. But I like the unpredictability, I think it adds to the looseness and life of the sketch.

Glad you like the new blog and thanks for the post. I was starting to think that no one was looking at this stuff.
